COVID-19 (update as at 18 Mar 2020)

Dear Members,

With the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases steadily rising in NSW, I'm committed to keeping you informed about how we are managing the situation at Port Macquarie Golf Club.

Of the confirmed cases (as at 18/3/2020) none are known to have frequented the Golf Club.

Members and staff who may contract the virus or have similar symptoms are requested to advise the Club (admin@portmacquariegolf.com.au) and remain away from the Club until medically cleared.

Aside from the info below, we urge you to take reasonable precautions but to still try to come play a round or enjoy the amenities we provide

Latest - 18th March 2020

Limitations have now been placed on many businesses to limit gathering indoors to a maximum of 100 people in any enclosed area. At the Club this constitutes Seabreeze Room, Dining Room, Lounge Areas and Gaming Areas. Entry to any of these areas may be limited should the number of patrons in any one particular area look likely to exceed 100.

To mitigate this limit, all golf competitions will be played as a 1 Tee start from 28 March to minimise the likelihood we would breach the venue limit.

Additionally, bookings in dining areas may be refused or seating in the function room provided if the limit is reached.

Looking after yourself

Your health and wellbeing are of the utmost importance, so I encourage you to stay at home if you are unwell. Otherwise, common sense hygiene practices are at the core of virus prevention:

  • WASH your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds using soap or hand sanitisers.
  • AVOID close contact with anyone with cold or flu like symptoms.
  • AVOID touching your mouth, nose and eyes
  • COVER your coughs and sneezes using a bent elbow or tissue, not your hands.

NSW Health has more information about the coronavirus, its spread and symptoms to manage any of your concerns -click here to view

If you happen to have casual contact with an infected person - click here for what to do

Other steps:
  • Act like a poor sport by removing pre and post game handshakes until situation abates. Generally minimise hand to hand contact - high fives etc
  • Choose seating away from other patrons where possible - minimise close proximity, not just here but in general, for the anti-social this should come naturally!
  • Tap ' n 'Go - at POS terminals minimise cash use which requires handling from member to staff and make more use of tap'n'go for payments
  • Casual staff - Club's casual staff will be provided paid sick leave to ensure not attending work when unwell or of concern
  • Sanitation stations - aside from bathroom which have wash basins and soap, we are awaiting a back order of sanitizers for use throughout the venue. Patrons are recommended to bring their own personal sanitiser for use.Increased cleaning - common touch areas will be more frequently cleaned with disinfectants
