Congratulations Marg! Some of our Tuesday competitors found the new 7<sup>th<\/sup> challenging but there were also wonderful results on our first day with a birdie to Sheena Gunn!<\/p>\n<p>Our delicious Season Opening morning tea of scones and jam was generously sponsored by Fran Scutts (KFC) and made by our very own Robyn Cooper. Thank you so much to these ladies.<\/p>\n<p>We welcomed a new Vets member, Carmel Johnson. \u00a0Please make Carmel feel welcome.<\/p>\n<p>We also welcome Matt and Courtney Docking as our new golf professionals, and their staff, Sam, Bec &amp; Steve to the Pro Shop. \u00a0Matt joined us at our Season Opening presentation, giving us a heads up on what the future holds for Women Vets here at Port.<\/p>\n<p>Noted also, The Pro Shop is beginning to look sensational with a new array of stock!\u00a0 This includes logoed Women\u2019s Vet shirts, available for ordering at $50 with your name embroidered, should you wish.<\/p>\n<p>PMWV Committee<\/p>\n<p>The committee remains the same as last year as we are in the final year of a 2-year tenure, expiring in March 2027. \u00a0Any members who may feel that they might want to come on board please advise us of your interest and perhaps sit in on committee meetings and see what\u2019s involved. \u00a0Succession planning begins now. Occurring on the last Tuesday of the month it follows our presentation. There is a standing booking for 10-15, so no need to book. \u00a0It\u2019s an opportunity to introduce new players to the club in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. \u00a0Please feel free to invite your playing partners along as well.<\/p>\n<p>Tips of the month<\/p>\n<p>The current tip relates to the local rule of <strong>compulsory<\/strong> call up on ALL par 3\u2019s. The lowest handicapper in the group is responsible for calling up the waiting group. Breaching of this local rule can be a 2 stoke penalty. After being called up move to the blue line where still visible, or to the cart signs in front of green, waiting quietly until the players have putted out.<\/p>\n<p>NB: \u00a0Players who are not able to hit onto the green may hit before being called up.<\/p>\n<p>NBB: There are red lines before the 1 and 10 tees. Whilst in the program, these members are not eligible to win major events.<\/p>\n<p>During this time the ladies will receive tips on course management, pace of play, etiquette and meet other players all with the same interest in the wonderful golfing journey. Currently we have Lauren Campbell in the program, whom many of you would know from the club\u2019s front office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Booking Sheet Changes<br \/><\/strong>A 9 hole timesheet, including a wait list, has been introduced to minimise booking errors. Thus, there are now dedicated 18 hole and 9 hole timesheets. Thanks must go to Yani Muffet for her expertise in helping John Tracey set this up for us. A very successful initiative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Raffle<br \/><\/strong>Our current raffle leading up to our Christmas luncheon is a generously donated ladies golf bag and a dozen golf balls. Tickets are available for $5 each or 3 for $10, with the proceeds going to subsidising our Christmas Luncheon. Thank you to our generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tips of the month<br \/><\/strong>Our tips of the month continue and are now in demand from other clubs. A summary of our tips is available on the App on the last page under Golf Etiquette.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VWGA News<br \/><\/strong>Congratulations go to Joan Jarv and Margaret Gray who received their special \u201c80\u201d badge during the year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christmas Luncheon<br \/><\/strong>The final event for 2025, our Christmas Celebration Luncheon, will be held on Tuesday 9<sup>th<\/sup> December following a two person Ambrose event. The competition for the day is sponsored by Naomi Hunter from HEM who will be attending for presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Our annual awards will take place at the luncheon, along with a report in lieu of an AGM and as usual, luck door prizes and lots of fun.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summer Comp<br \/><\/strong>The WV 9 and 18 hole Summer Comps will commence on 16<sup>th<\/sup> December, running till 3<sup>rd<\/sup> February 2026, except for days noted in the fixtures book as social play only. Please note, there will be no NTP, gobblers &amp; birdies or presentations during the Summer Comp, enabling the comps to be run remotely. Thank you, Fran.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Sub Committee Elections<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have been waiting since November for the board to make final decisions regarding the elections of the Sub Committees. This has now happened, and the elections are now complete.<\/p>\n<p>The elections will take place biannually in March. Our subcommittee will now comprise of 6 members, an increase of 1 member from last year. The tenure for each committee position is to be 2 years.<\/p>\n<p>Our Chairperson and Captain are elected positions along with three committee members, one of whom is to be secretary. The sixth member is to be a Board nominated Director.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>PMWV Committee <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the elections\u2026let me reintroduce them to you<\/p>\n<p>Fran Scutts is our Representative Director from the Board.<\/p>\n<p>Myself, Vicki Newton continues as your chairperson.<\/p>\n<p>Julie Robbins has been elected as Captain, replacing Suzanne Savage who has stepped down after 5 years in the position.<\/p>\n<p>Jenny Holloway is continuing as our secretary. She\u2019s responsible for keeping us all on our toes with the organising of meetings, sponsorship &amp; distributing the minutes, a copy of which can be found in the folder in the women\u2019s locker room.<\/p>\n<p>Denise Latif continues our Treasurer and keeps tabs on where your membership, raffle &amp; sponsorship monies go. Additionally, she financially sorts our 2 functions a year including your subsidised luncheon.<\/p>\n<p>Anne-Marie Ferry is our welfare officer. Previously AM was assisting the committee by looking after the welfare area. She is now a full voting member of the committee. Please let AM know of anyone having surgery or is unwell so that we may touch base with them. Please note, we are very careful in protecting the privacy of our members and only after their permission is given, do we update our other members.<\/p>\n<p>PLEASE NOTE, we welcome any Women\u2019s Vet member who would like to come and see how the committee or individual roles within our committee work. Succession planning begins now &amp; we are interested in sharing our skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Thank You <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As mentioned earlier, Suzanne has been our Vets Captain for the past 5 years and has also been heavily involved with the Women\u2019s subcommittee as well. A big thanks needs to go to Suzanne for her time, dedication and leadership in her role which she has handled in a professional and competent manner.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps Suzanne\u2019s greatest legacy in handing over of the baton to our new Captain, Julie Robbins, has been her mentoring for the past 2 years.<\/p>\n<p>We wish Suzanne all the best for the future and continued stress-free enjoyment in her golfing journey. These will be addressed and\/or resolved through our subcommittee meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Vicki and the PMWV committee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Port Macquarie Women Vets<\/p>\n<p>November 2024 Update<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to our Lady Vets final update for the year.<\/p>\n<p>October commenced with the Joan Blackburne Memorial Day, sponsored by John Blackburne. \u00a0Following the fun game of three clubs and a putter, the traditional \u2018Joan\u2019s Morning Tea\u2019 of scones with jam and cream was enjoyed prior to our presentation.<\/p>\n<p>The well-deserved winner of the trophy was Anne Coutts with Jennifer Lee and Helen Prowse as runners up. \u00a0This year John sponsored an Acknowledgment Award. The white paint may be marked as unbroken line, dots or broken lines.<strong> Optional <\/strong>to take relief <strong>unless <\/strong>there is a compulsory sign<\/li>\n<li>Areas of bare ground in the general area cut to fairway height or less <strong>other than divots<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Clearly defined wheel ruts made by course maintenance machinery<\/li>\n<li>Ensure you confer with your marker, <strong>before <\/strong>taking relief.<\/li>\n<li>To take full relief, find the nearest point to where your ball lies, <strong>no nearer the hole<\/strong> &amp; where you no longer have interference from the <strong>GUR<\/strong>. Then drop within one club-length of that point. <strong>NB<\/strong>: Nearest point of relief<strong>, Not the Nicest!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Committee Elections<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the PMGC AGM on the 20<sup>th<\/sup> of November, all subcommittees will be up for re-election.<\/p>\n<p>Our Captain of the past 4 years Suzanne Savage is stepping down for a well-deserved break. Thank you Suzanne, for all your dedication and support for the PMWV and in your other golfing roles.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, the position of WV Captain is now vacant. \u00a0Our Assistant Captain is happy to step up, and the remainder of the WV Committee (Chairperson and two committee members) are happy to re stand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, should anyone be interested, they may nominate for the positions.<\/p>\n<p>Forms can be obtained from reception.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Christmas Luncheon<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our Christmas luncheon will be held on Tuesday the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> of December in the Seabreeze room from 12 noon, commencing with our usual golf presentation. \u00a0Cost is $30 per head and includes a two-course meal of main and deserts with wine and soft drinks. \u00a0Yearly awards will be given out along with lucky door prizes and raffles. \u00a0The booking sheet is in the Locker Room and money is payable to Denise by 26<sup>th<\/sup> November please.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Summer Break<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our Summer 9 &amp; 18 hole WV Comp will be run by the PMWV Committee. \u00a0The Comp will run from 10<sup>th<\/sup> December to 28<sup>th<\/sup> January, excluding public holidays.\u00a0 As the results will be collated remotely, there will be no nearest the pins. \u00a0Please note however, that NTP monies will be added to the ball comp.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Women Vets Monthly Luncheon<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The last Tuesday of the month has been set aside for our members wishing to get together for lunch after golf and has been well supported and appreciated by our ladies.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an opportunity to meet new players and gather in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. \u00a0Bookings aren\u2019t necessary and remember to invite your playing partners along as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Welcome<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A special welcome to new members, we hope you have fun playing with us and please make yourselves known to the committee. \u00a0Also welcome back to members returning from illness, surgery or injury. \u00a0Lovely to have you back with us.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Welfare<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please remember to advise Anne-Marie or any member of the committee of any of our ladies or their families that may be ill or having a difficult time who may need our help or a visit. \u00a0Our thoughts are with our ladies who are unwell or recovering from surgery or injuries for a speedy recovery and return to golf.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Christmas Wishes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As this is our last newsletter for the year, the committee wishes you all a safe and happy festive season. \u00a0We thank you for your support over the past year and look forward to the start of our 2025 session on Tuesday 4<sup>th <\/sup>February.
