Women’s Captain Information
First to the THANKYOUs.
I haven’t been around the course much in the past few weeks. My husband, Peter, who had been in hospital for quite a while is finally home! There have been many adjustments made, and will continue to be made in our household. There have been many offers of support – THANKYOU. I must make particular mention of Glenys Cummings who stepped in and took over the running of Pennants when it was played at Port. Di Collocott did a great job behind the scenes in the day’s organisation! Our Open Day was a big success in part because Lyn Somers did a lot of the work at the course that I was unable to do. On both days there were also many other members who helped out – THANKYOU! The feedback I received about both days was that our visitors gave us a big ‘thumbs up’!
4Ball Matchplay date changes.
Due to poor weather, we have moved this event. The 4Ball Matchplay Qualifying rounds are now Wednesday 11/9 and Saturday 14/9. Round 1 will be played on Sunday 22/9 with Rounds 2 and 3 to be played by 22/9 and 29/9 respectively. The date of the final is to be determined.
PMWG Pennants 2024.
Another thankyou to Di Collocott who has competently taken over the reigns of Port Pearls as I no longer have the time to play.
Results:
Round 1 – Kew. Pearls and Sapphires had wins.
Round 2 – Tuncurry. Sapphires, Diamonds and Pearls all recorded wins.
Round 3 – Gloucester. Pearls had a win. Harrington was washed out so Sapphires will play the round later in the year.
Round 4 – Port Macquarie. Diamonds had an impressive win.
We have had a few women step up and capably play in the three teams when team members have been unavailable – Lilian Smith, Chanel Hill, Genelle Warne, Kath Felstead, Glenys Cummings, Wendy Gordon, Andrea Huxley and Di Hubbard.
PURPLE and RED COURSES
Watch this space! We are currently negotiating with Golf NSW to have both the Red and Purple courses re-rated. When this is finalised, we hope to play the Purple course on some days and we will be trialling a multi-tee event using the MiScore app.
Prize Allocations
Following a Board decision to bring all groups in the club in line with each other our Prize rundown is being revamped. The changes will come into effect on Wednesday 24 April. At the same time we have taken the opportunity to streamline our Prize Allocations. We now have Wednesday, Friday and Saturday competitions using the same breakdown. Depending on field numbers there will be an increase in the amount winners receive. We have decreased the number of NTPs to 4 – removing the All In 2nd shot NTPs. This money has been included in the Prize allocations.
Recent Fixture Changes
The Monthly Medal for May has been moved back a week to May 1 to stop the clash with the CNC 3-day Seniors Tournament at Nambucca Heads. At the same time the Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day was moved to April 24.
Teams Events
It is great to play an event where you are part of a team. When there is NOT a SINGLES in conjunction you are able to help each other, discuss tactics and putt out of order to help a team member see the line of a putt if they can achieve a better score than you! Some team members may not have to putt out if all required scores have been achieved and they cannot improve on these scores! This can quicken the game.
So….. take a close look at the teams event you are playing! If there is a SINGLES in conjunction you cannot help each other – and the single score will go to GolfLink. If it is clearly stated there is NO SINGLES then tactics as outlined above are allowed and scores will not go to GolfLink. Remember, because we use MiScore we use Singles cards most of the time to score – but this does not mean you are always entered in a Singles event.
GOOD GOLFING EVERYONE!
Please text or ring me if you have any questions or concerns. I am still working behind the scenes, even if I am not playing as much golf!
