COARSE CLIPPINGS – Nov/Dec 2024
Another update on what’s been going on regarding works on the course.
• New greenkeeper Matt Johnson commenced duties in early October. He moved from Moss Vale Golf Club, he’s also a handy golfer! • Greens were double scarified before major renovations, then greens were cored using 16mm hollows and fertilised. Approximately 100 tonne of sand was used!
• Nursery area LHS Hole 6 was filled with soil and fenced to keep out our local kangaroo population. This area will be seeded as bent • Tree removal on various areas were removed for safety reasons
• Area adjacent to LHS Hole 3 was returfed to the hazard area and marked with red hazard pegs
• Area RHS Hole 4 and between fairway and driving range was initially cleared and now has been marked with red hazard pegs to improve speed of play, fairness and be consistent with other areas.
• Major renovations were implemented in early November with all greens being tyned (large) and sanded
• During these course closure fairways and green surrounds were scarified and fertilised
• A final dusting of sand was carried out two weeks later • The bamboo area near Clubhouse was trimmed of hanging and broken branches as directed by the Arborist. It was then approved by the Club insurer and brought back into play
• The internal area was also cleared of old branches and leaves
• Going forward, play the ball as it lies will be indefinite (weather depending)
I would like to thank Steve Brennan and his staff for their support and dedication on the course this year.
Also to all our members, staff and their families wishing you a safe and Merry Christmas!
Regards,
Steve Manton
