Throughout 2017 the Club has been in consultation with Golf Course Architect Richard Chamberlain to review previous course plans and draft for Board adoption a course improvement plan.
These plans are aimed to:
- address long term maintenance issues,
- address ageing greens,
- improve available area of tee sizes
- improve efficiency in course maintenance (mostly via some bunker reduction or overall reduction in numbers)
- enhance strategic placement of hazards and course layout
The adopted plans have avoided any significant and costly re-routing of holes.
Supplementing the Course Improvement Plan the Board have also completed a review by the Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association TECH division into recommending suitable grass types for future course works considerate of soil types, climate, micro-climate limatations and historical performance of grass types in our locale.
Following the 2017 AGM the following were appointed to the Course Committee to help guide the delivery of the plan, Course Chair Barry Prowse and on the Committee Ron Callaghan, Tony Hayward, Neil Smith with Bill MacDonald ex-officio.
A copy of the Course Improvement Plan, Course Improvement Report and AGCSA Tech report are contained below for the information of Members.
An information night with Q&A on the design work is to be hosted by the architect Richard Chamberlain on Wednesday 17th January 7.00pm.
