NEWSETTER – JANUARY 2026

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our PMWG Sub-Committee of Sheena Gunn, Di Phillips, Evelyn Geh and Rowena Randall, together with Lyn Somers MiClub Co-Ordinator and Margaret Bateman for her tireless services in the Secretary’s role. Thank you also to Rowena Randall, as our Saturday Business Women’s Representative. Congratulations to the PMWV Sub-Committee on a very successful 2025, and a huge thank you to Vicki Newton and your Committee for your help and assistance in achieving this. Our two Sub-Committees continue to work together with cohesion and harmony.

At the time of print, the PMWG Sub-Committee still consists of:

Chairperson: Di Collocott
Captain: Sheena Gunn
Committee: Di Phillips
Committee: Evelyn Geh
Committee: Rowena Randall
Director PMWG Sub-Committee: Sheena Gunn.

Margaret Bateman, Secretary and Lyn Somers MiClub as a coordinator.

The current Sub-Committee nominated and was accepted in March of 2025 for a period of 2 years. Accordingly at the end of 2026/early 2027 we will be calling for nominations for the PMWG Sub-Committee and we welcome any Women Members who may be interested in joining the Sub-Committee to please feel welcome to make yourself and your interest known.

Our Opening of Season Day is Wednesday 4 February 2026. It will be an 8.30am shotgun start. As the SBW are stretched across the field, you will be provided with a Sandwich Voucher when you check in at the Pro Shop

Anne Coutts has done a champion job in being the NSWVWGA Veteran for 2024 and 2025 and we extend our sincere thanks to Anne. Elizabeth Lloyd-James has very kindly offered to take on this role for 2026. Please pay your renewal subscription of $7 to Liz directly or alternatively the payment can be included in the Players Payment Form which is attached at the bottom of this newsletter. These subscriptions are due NOW. Please be sure to check the NSWVWGA Notice Board at the right-hand end of the women’s locker room where you will find the VWGA Programme for 2026 and Entry Forms for or any tournaments you might be interested in attending in the folder alongside the Notice Board. In particular there is a two-day tournament on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th March 2026 in Mudgee.

If you have not already paid for your annual locker fee, Golf NSW Medals and any sponsorship, please see the attached Players Payment Form at the bottom of this newsletter.

There are 3 other 2 Day Tournaments, in Blackheath 7-8 May, 2026, in Ocean Shores on 13-14 July, 2026 and in Queanbeyan 21-22 September, 2026. You can access these tournaments through the NSWGWGA website at vwgansw.org.au.

Our Club Champion, Annemaree Herring will be participating in the Champion of Champions event in Manly on Monday 2 February, 2026. Best wishes for a great event Annemaree, I know you will do us proud.

Our annual Open Day will be on Friday 10 April, 2026. The protocol for this event is that we open it to visitors first and will be putting out a waiting list for PMWG to register. If the field is not full by the closing date; we will then open it up to the PMWG on the waiting list. We will be running a raffle at our Open Day and we would appreciate any donations to the raffle, the proceeds of which will be going to a nominated local charity.

I would like to congratulate Rowena Randall on her successful 3 year appointment to the Board and Fran Scutts willingly and successfully nominating for another year, and wish our current Port Macquarie Golf Club Board a very successful 2026.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank James Single for his years of service in the Port Macquarie Pro Shop and wish him every success in his future endeavours.

I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new Club Professionals Matthew and Courtney Docking. We wish you many happy years and success at Port Macquarie Golf Club.

Wishing all of our PMWG Members who are experiencing ill health a speedy recovery and return to golf.

  • NTPs (2026).  Grades for NTPs will be as above for Red course and Pick Your Tee days. Purple course NTP grades are: A grade 0-20.  B grade 21-27. C grade 28-45.
  • Wed NTPs will be – 14th hole (A and B 1st shot, C 2nd shot), 16TH hole (A, B and C 2nd shots)
  • Fri NTPs will be – 4th hole (A, B and C 2nd shots), 7th hole (initially A and B 1st shot, C 2nd shot)
  • Eclectic – all individual rounds played in a Women’s Competition from Red course.  Wed and Fri for Midweek, Sat for Weekend.
  • Birdies – from all individual rounds played in a Women’s Competition from any rated course.  Wed and Fri for Midweek, Sat for Weekend.
  • Shotgun Starts – lunch orders will continue to be taken at each shotgun start this year (excluding Open of Season Day).
  • Teams events – there will be NO Singles event in conjunction with our Teams events.  In 2025 there was great feedback from members about their enjoyment of the Teams format.  This included the discussions that they could have within the team about scoring, line of putts, and course strategy that is not allowed when there is a singles event as well.
  • A reminder to New golfers – It is recommended that new golfers should not play in a group comprising of 4 inexperienced players when they first play in our competitions.  It is important that they play with experienced golfers so they can be introduced to both the correct rules and the etiquette of playing golf!

Pennants 2026
This year we are again entering 3 teams in Pennants.  Annemaree Herring is organising our teams this year. (THANKYOU).  Annemaree has placed a sheet in the locker room for women to indicate they are interested in playing.  A Reserve list is also available.  A big thankyou to Naomi (HEM Property) who is once again sponsoring our teams.

SATURDAY BUSINESS WOMEN’S MATCHPLAY
Unfortunately this event did not happen this year.

Row and Sheena are proposing to run 2 Matchplay events this year on Saturday prior to our Club Matchplay event.  We hope that any Saturday player who is unsure of what Matchplay is will play.

PACE OF PLAY
Pace of Play will continue to be a focus in 2026 across both Matchplay and Stroke rounds.  It is important all competitors are mindful of others who are playing (both in their group and across the field).  A group should never lose the group in front of them during a round.  There are reasons that a group does lose ground (eg lost balls), but this should be made up once the issue is resolved.  If for any reason your group does lose pace then you should consider letting the following group through, particularly if they have been waiting for their shots over a few holes! Another option to consider (if you have lost sight of the group in front) is to break up into 2 twos until you have caught up with the group in front of you.

NTP App usage!!!!!
I am excited to announce that we have been trialling the use the MiScore App to record our NTPs. We will decide as to whether we continue to use this method of recording early February after consultation with our members.  At this stage feedback has been very positive from both midweek and weekend players.

Updated Open Days List 2026
I have attached a copy of the WGCNC Open Days and Events program for 2026 at the bottom of this newsletter It is great to play other local courses and these days provide an opportunity to do this.  Get out your 2026 diaries and program in the occasional trip to another course.

Attached also is a flyer from Wauchope Golf Club inviting us to participate in their Coastal Women’s Golf Day on Sunday March 1.  Entry form will be in the locker room.
