HEM Mens Club Championship – “there is a new kid on the block”

That kid is junior player, Eddie Coombes, who yesterday (Sunday) won Mens Club, A grade and Junior Championship with a 3 shot (220)win over James Bodycote (223 c/b) and Evan Berger (223).

Eddie hit off the final hole with a one shot lead over Evan, Eddie then hit a monster drive down 18 and a 5 iron into the green to set up an eagle putt from around three meters, he birdied the hole while Evan had a bogey on the 18th.

Congratulations Eddie on the win you now join a select group of players that are Port Macquarie Golf Club Champions.

Eddie also won the Junior Championship with a 10 shot win over his brother Will, these two finished one and two in the junior nett 36 hole championships, but it was Will who took the top spot 140-143.

Gavin Roberts won the A Reserve championship (234) with a four shot win over Anthony Chapman (238), congratulations Gavin you certainly are in fine form with 2 competition wins last week and the championship win on Sunday.

For the second year in a row the B grade champion was decided at the 19th hole, this year it was Nick Ambrose who won the playoff from Steve Sanders, both went down the 1st playoff hole (one) locked on 261 each, Ambrose parred the hole while Steve had a bogey, congratulations on your championship win Nick.

Graham Sutton (279) is the C Grade champion with a one shot victory over Brian Reid (280), congratulations also to you Graham on your win in the C grade club championship.

David Bagust for the second year in a row won the over 60 years championship with the score of (225).

The Mens 36 Hole Nett Champion was Andy Bourke (138) from junior Will Coombes (140).
