Women’s Newsletter AUGUST
Women’s Seaside Classic
We had a very successful 2-day Women’s event. The weather around these 2 days was not great, but the sun came out for us!! THANKYOU to Steve and company who presented our course beautifully (albeit with some quite speedy greens!).

We had a very exciting finish to determine the overall Seaside Winner. Greer Galloway (on the left) from Coffs Harbour and Adele Dosen (Douglas) from Bonville finished equal on 168 after the two days. A playoff was held with both women hitting great shots into the 1st green on the first playoff hole. Greer handled the difficult green the best and was declared the winner of our event. Many of our older members will remember Jodie Ninness (now Jodie Dunn) from Wauchope, who came in third.
In the 36-hole Stableford event we had a trifecta! Laraine McLaughlin (Winner), SHIRL O’Keefe (Runner-up) and Sue RADFORD (third).
MORE Date changes 2025 (Please may the rain stop!) and upcoming events
- The 4BBB Nett Stroke Matchplay will again be rescheduled due to the Hastings Education Fund Golf Day. When the Subcommittee meets later this month we will decide whether to reschedule with modifications to the Conditions of Play OR abandon the event for 2025.
- Our 27 holes Foursomes Championship has been rescheduled to October 8.
- In consultation with Wauchope Golf Club it has been decided to abandon the Timbertown Bowl for 2025. All women members are encouraged to participate in Wauchope’s Pamper Day instead. This is a 4-person Ambrose event, 8:30am shotgun start, on Friday 26 September. Cost $35.
- A date for your diaries – Wednesday 27 Aug. We have a shotgun start @ 9am. The event is a Teams Waltz Stableford (with Singles). It is also our inaugural Friendship Day with Emerald Downs. We are hoping to pair up 2 Port Women with 2 Emerald Downs women – so there is no pressure for everyone to find a team of 4. Just put your name in the spaces available. Thanks to Hastings Specialty Furniture for sponsoring this event.
- Another date – PORT MACQUARIE PRO AM! 19/20 Aug. You can now enter in the Pro Shop. You will see some great golf when you play with a professional golfer!
- And don’t forget the Keno Golf NSW 2Person Ambrose on Sunday Aug 17. You can enter as a Male/Female or a Female/Female pairing. Winning teams head off to the next round to be played at Forster/Tuncurry.

Thankyou to our Volunteers and Greens Staff
Thankyou to all our members who volunteered during our Seaside events as spotters, bunker rakers, starters, Marshalls, Morning tea helpers etc! It was disappointing that the men’s Seaside event was abandoned due to the extremely strong winds and heavy rain. Over the following 3 days members volunteered their time and cleaned up lots of debris around the course, leaving our greens staff free to work on fallen trees, Greens, Tees, and heavy debris. Our course has never looked so clean – although it is still very wet in places. We should be back playing by the time this newsletter is published.
NSW Womens Club Challenge
We have 6 women playing at Elanora and Mona Vale on Monday. Sheena, Sam Ansley, Sue Macpherson, Jenny Smith, Yani Muffet and Genelle Warne. Good luck!
Mid-Year Meeting
Thank you to all the women who attended our mid-year meeting. The Sub-committee values all the feedback given and will take into account all comments in future decision making.
Welcome to Quedesha Golledge
We have a new face in the Pro Shop! Golf trainee Quedesha. Looking forward to her interactions with our women members!
It is with a heavy heart that we send our condolences to Suzanne Savage following the passing of her husband Greg Whiddon. Even though not a golfer Greg was a great help to our MiClub team, ensuring that our members have an easy-to-read Fixtures book.
Wishing all of our PMWG who are experiencing ill health a speedy recovery and return to golf.
