I am thrilled to announce some exciting upgrades and upcoming events coming to Port Macquarie Golf Club in the very near future. Here is a snippet of what you can look forward to:

 

Upgrades to our Members Kiosk: Very soon members can enjoy additional benefits just by swiping their membership card at our members terminal. These perks include rewards for swiping your card during the month of your birthday as well as a daily opportunity to win from a pool of prizes!

 

Revamping of the restaurant: We are modernising the appearance of our dining area with brand new furniture, ensuring your comfort as you enjoy delicious meals with friends and family.

 

Kitchen Equipment: Over the past three years we’ve dedicated extensive time and resources to repairing our ageing kitchen equipment. Now we are committed to investing in the future of the club’s kitchen by purchasing good quality equipment with warranties. These selections are not only efficient in terms of gas usage and labour costs but also come with maintenance and cleaning agreements.

 

Upgraded Golf Carts: We have placed on order nine (9) brand new golf carts, which will be available for hire to members and visitors.

 

Enhanced ATM with TAB Features: For your convenience, we are upgrading our ATM services to include TAB features.

 

New Website and upgrades to IT systems: We are excited to announce that we are working on a brand-new website which will provide a seamless online experience for both members and visitors. In addition to this, our administration staff are having their IT services upgraded, ensuring that we can continue to maintain our dedication to quality and excellent customer service.

 

New Practice Nets are being considered for members convenience.

 

Members Golf Rules Night on Friday 10th May 2024 6:00PM will be an opportunity for members to join in on an information session to stay up-to-date with golf rules and regulations. The session will include light refreshments and will last approximately 2 hours, with time allocated for questions. Attendance is free for golfing members, but bookings are essential through reception.

 

Greens renovations

The renovations commenced on Monday 11 March 2024 and were completed on Wednesday 13 March 2024, they included coring and sanding.
– this should help relieve the algal areas on some greens due to the persistent high humidity over last few months
– with the current temperatures still remaining, green staff will be hand watering during the day.

Our next lot of course renovations will be in November on Monday 4th, Tuesday 5th (Melbourne Cup Day) and Wednesday 6th.

Potential Development & Planning

As reported previous to the members in June 2023, unfortunately the Stevens Group informed us that they would not be continuing to participate in the joint venture proposal with our club. The main reasoning behind their decision was that following extensive investigations, the conclusions were that a Manufactured Housing Estate would not provide the Club with the outcome it, or the Stevens Group, would consider satisfactory to reach the desired goals.

The funds invested between Stevens Group & the Club have been proven worthwhile, as they have brought us closer to understanding the possibilities and limitations of the land.

Despite some rumours around the Club the Board and Management would like to emphasise that we have not made any decisions regarding any future development to date, but will continue to engage in discussions with associated consultants to gather additional ideas for our future progress. As well, I assure you that communications with Council will continue to discuss consideration of future potential development opportunities, and with regards to the Pasveer System (old system sewage treatment.)

Furthermore, I am organising a strategic planning meeting for the Board & Management to assess the potential to diversify income streams to help secure the future of the Club, ensuring its long-term viability and sustainability.

On the agenda at the strategic meeting will include the golf course re development and potential new layout options, including new greens, new bunkers etc…..

 

Ocean Drive Duplication Project

I would like to inform of upcoming work near Port Macquarie Golf Club in regards to the Ocean Drive Duplication Project. 

There will be trenching work along Ocean Drive outside of the property boundary of the club in the next few weeks including trenching of the sewer main, there will be electrical trenching required also, but as to the timeframe of that I am currently unaware but will be advised when this work is scheduled.

Emerald Drive closure; Ocean Drive to become three-way roundabout at intersection (APR-late JUL).  Allows for excavation at intersection and construction of half of new intersection.  Access to Lighthouse Plaza remains via entrance on Ocean Drive near BP Petrol Station

Matthew Flinders Drive closure; Ocean Drive to become T-Intersection at intersection (AUG-NOV).  Allows for excavation at intersection and construction of other half of new intersection.  Access to Lighthouse Plaza remains via either Emerald Drive or along Ocean Drive.  

Traffic impacts associated with the intersection commencement at Emerald Drive / Matthew Flinders Drive are estimated to occur between April and November, but in this process Ocean Drive will remain open. 

During the closure there may be requirements for evening / nighttime detours.

The next stage of work near the golf course would be the south-bound excavation but there is no current scheduling for this yet, pending the engagement and completion of the intersection and northbound segment first.

The dates associated with the above are currently being re-determined due to the impacts of rain.

The completion date is still set for late 2025.
