Welcome ladies to August 2023 update

Welcome ladies to our August update and hoping that you are all well and enjoying your golf.

Charity Day

Our celebration in July, which incorporates our charity fundraiser, was held on July 4^th in the Seabreeze Room and was a wonderful success. We traditionally support the Hastings Hospice in the Home, and with raffles and donations raised $500. This money goes directly to our local community and to patients requiring palliative care in their own home. They provide benefits such as loan equipment, disposable goods and medications free of charge.

The golf itself on the day was rained out. 10 brave ladies participated and earned themselves a ball for their trouble! However not all was lost, and 50 ladies joined us for our luncheon and an afternoon of fun, laughter and prizes, with good food and wine.

This luncheon was extremely well supported, and our thanks must go to all the Sponsors, Francis and kitchen staff, and to Justin and his staff for their help and assistance in making it such an enjoyable afternoon.

Special guests Betty Barrow and Elaine Borger who have retired from golf after 62 years of golfing between them, attended and have promised to return for future functions as part of our Lady Vets family.

It was also lovely to see Robyn Davis, who is recovering following her accident in January, and Anne Coutts following her bilateral knee replacements! We wish both ladies a speedy recovery and hope to see them back on the course soon.

 Women’s Vets Trial 18 hole competition

Following direction from the board, a TRIAL 18 hole Women’s Stableford competition will commence on Tuesday 29^th August. This competition will run under similar Conditions of Play as the current Women Vets and all players must be financial to be eligible for prizes. (See Website and APP)

The new time sheet allows for both the Men Vets and Women Vets to register for tee times in the 18 hole  one tee start. The Women’s Vets 9-hole competition will run on the alternate tee as usual.

The nine-hole competition remains the same with the exception of a slightly earlier start to accommodate extra players across the field. These earlier time slots will be useful particularly as the weather warms up. 

Please be careful what timesheet you book into.

Joan Blackburne Memorial Day.

The annual Memorial Day for our past President Joan Blackburne will take place on the 19^th September. It will be a fun game of 3 clubs and a putter followed by morning tea of Scones, jam and cream and a tea and coffee station. Thank you to John Blackburne for his generous sponsorship.

Vets 2-Day Tournament

 This tournament will be held on the 4^th and 5^th September. It will be a shotgun start of either 7.15 am or 12.15pm. Forms to book and pay are outside the captain’s office in the computer room. Completed forms to be given to either John Tracey or left at reception.

Women Vets Shirts

Following the voting for shirt selection at the recent luncheon, size samples can now be tried on and ordered from the Pro shop. The first 50 shirts ordered will be subsidised by the committee and discounted by $10 to $40.

Our sincere condolences, prayers and thoughts go to Lyn Kerr on the sad passing of her

husband Barry. The Women Vets family are here for you Lyn during this sad a difficult time.
