Hello to all the Beautiful women at Port Macquarie Golf Club. 

I am very happy to announce that an 18 hole vet Women’s competition will commence on the 29th of August. This will require a change in the current Tuesday timesheet structure. A new timesheet, with a modified two tee start, one tee will run from 07:15 through to 12:15 for all Vets, Women & Men, who wish to play an 18 Hole Competition. On the alternate tee there will continue to be a Women’s Vets 9 Hole Competition commencing at 7:30 to approximately 9:30. This new structure will run as a trial to assess the feasibility of the new competition formats”

At the time of writing this newsletter PMGC have had our 2 day Women’s 36 hole stroke and Stableford event in the Seaside Classic. 

I would like to thank the Seaside Classic committee . I would also like to thank John Tracey, Lyn Somers, Suzanne Savage and all the volunteers.  It was great to see John McCleland , Ian Newton, Paul Atkin, John Tracey raking and many spotters and starters such as Julie Robbins and Jill Gorrie as well. I’m sorry that I don’t have all the volunteers names please know that we are all very grateful for your help, without you the event wouldn’t run as smoothly. Thank you to Bill McDonald who continues to support our women’s events. Thank you to Morgan’s , HEM Property and Peak Coffee for their sponsorship.  Thank you to Ian Munro CEO, Justin Cave 2IC , James Single and the pro shop as well as Gavin Roberts President of Port Macquarie Golf Club.

We had the Sandy Watson Day also at the end of July. Thank you to Sandys sons Craig and Mark for sponsoring the day. A very special thankyou to our wonderful social committee Alex Meares , Sue Radford, Shirl the girl O’keefe and Amanda Verrijdt for there commitment and passion. 

We had the Dixie Chicks Day sponsored by Fran, Di, Marg and Corrina in memory of their wonderful friend Chris Dickson. 

I would like to offer Tracy Crowe and her Beautiful family Samantha, Joshua and Adam our heartfelt sympathy and support at this extremely hard time mourning the loss of Mark Crowe. Our hearts go out to the Crowe family.

Marjorie McLaren a foundation member of Port Macquarie Golf Club also passed away. Marjorie had many women vets friends over her golfing life.

We have some very special 0 Birthdays coming up in August. Lyn Kerr and Kay Sallaway will be receiving their VWGA Hat clips . Another 0 Birthday in August is Kath Felstead. Happy Birthday to all Women golfers that have birthdays in August. 

There are also many injured golfing women at the moment with knee, hip and shoulder replacements.  A broken arm, spine injuries and other ailments we may not be aware of.

Congratulations to Corrina Munro winning the Singles knockout Championships against Pat Every I believe it was a great game.

On  Friday the 8th of September we are having an IPF Awareness and fundraising day. (Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis).

It will be a 9am shotgun start the competition will be a 4ball Ambrose.

Men and women can play. There will be equal prizes for both the men and women including a prize for best dressed team in pink and or blue.

We will also be running a raffle . You can put your name , names or business name down to sponsor a hole. It’s 100.00 for a hole you can get a few of you to chip in or buy a hole yourself.  Send Nikki Bailey a photo of your self or your group and we will display this on your chosen hole.

Captains Report August Newsletter

Seaside Classic

Congratulations to all who supported the Morgans 36 holes Seaside Classic Women’s event making this a huge success with numbers of 86 & 83 over the 2 days. The weather was perfect as was the presentation of the course.  

We had so many positive comments on the running of the event & thanks go to the many course volunteers, the sponsors, seaside committee & club for a very professional presentation of this event. Congratulations to all of our members for participating & to those that had success as winners.

Defending Champion Adele Douglas from Bonville won this year’s 36 holes championship with a score of 162 as did defending runner up Quedesha Golledge from Kew with 167. I wish to make special mention of our own Sarah Dawson on a handicap of 9 who qualified for the leading group after day 1, trailing by just 2 shots Sarah finished overall third with 170. Well done Sarah we are all so very proud of you.

Course Records were broken on both days of the 36 holes event. Previously held by our member Patty Gardiner with a gross score of 83, Quedesha Golledge broke the record by one shot in Sunday’s event with a gross of 82. On Monday Adele Douglas recorded a new record with a fantastic gross score of 79. 

Singles Knockout

Congratulations to Corrina Munro & Pat Every for reaching the final which was played on Wednesday the 2 August. Corrina won the Singles Matchplay Championship 2 up in a tight fought battle. The match was played in great spirit & anticipation with holes either being won or lost, with very few squares.  Well done to all 16 competitors for a wonderful & smooth run event.

Sat & Wednesday Eclectic Competitions

With the new course setup & hole orders now in place this has impacted on the eclectic competition which became null & void as of the 1st July. The women’s committee have agreed to honor the competition up until this date and acknowledge the winners of the divisions at our annual presentations. 

Course  

You will soon see a welcomed signage post directing players & visitors to the new 1st & 10th tees & to the pro shop. This will be placed near the corner of the garden bed opposite the flag pole.

New NTP’s to be used from Wednesday 9th Aug onwards. The butterflies to be retired.

Local Rule: Exposed Tree Roots.

Relief may be taken on closely mown areas of fairways, tees & greens, no closer to the hole.

Upcoming Events:

 Fri 18 Aug – Timbertown Bowl Challenge Rd. 2 @ Wauchope.

Shotgun start  8 – 8.30 am.

 Please place your name on the bulk entry form in the locker room, pay on the day.

Please represent our club by wearing your club shirt or similar colour, we want to showcase this day in a sea of blue.

After round one Port hold a very small averaged lead of just 2.6 stableford points. Let’s try to win back this trophy.

Wed 30 Aug – 6 & 13 September – Women’s Club Championships sponsored by Hem Property. Three consecutive Wednesdays of stroke rounds in 4 Grades, please book into your normal MM booking sheet.
